A Few Reality Checks

Reality check:
Transgender people are not “freaks” and are no more dangerous than the average person, regardless of what the alt-right would have you believe. Feel free to actually look it up, maybe talk to real trans people. Its no different than when the Nazis drummed up hatred of the Jewish people. Its a fairy tale.

Reality check:
All the crimes that the right claims they are protecting women from: peeping, rape, assault, etc ARE ALREADY ILLEGAL. Anyone caught doing them in a public bathroom is breaking a law… so another law is unnecessary. You would think the party of “small government” would be against unnecessary laws.

Reality check:
Criminals, by definition, do not obey laws. They haven’t avoided restrooms because “well gee, I wanna rape someone but its illegal for me to go in there so I won’t.” Seriously, if you think a law prohibiting men from entering the ladies’ room (already illegal in many states trying to pass this law, btw) will keep criminals from attacking someone in a restroom, I have a bridge to sell you.

Reality check:
All the campaigns against transgender people began shortly after the battle of marriage equality was won in the supreme court. That isn’t a coincidence. Transgender people are a marginalized portion of society that often lives in poverty and “below radar.” They are an easy target for bigots, nothing more.

Reality check:
North Carolina’s soon to be dead HB2 did nothing but cost jobs and income to the state. No crimes were prevented, no rapists were caught. On the contrary more than a dozen gender-nonconforming women were attacked by rapid citizens trying to act like police.
“Bathroom laws” are just another way of attacking marginalized citizens while keeping the low-IQ set distracted and chasing phantoms.  Stand against them, stop them, and lets do something productive as a nation.
